Welcome to THE ANDAMAN Island
The Andaman Islands form a breathtakingly beautiful and relatively untouched archipelago situated by the Andaman Sea in the Bay of Bengal. Only 36 of 572 islands are inhabited, leaving 86% of the landmass under protected forest cover. Tropical rainforests abound in rare and endemic species of flora and fauna. Cut off from the continent for thousands of years, many species have evolved a little differently from their mainland cousins. Hundreds of bird species make the islands a birders dream destination. Four out of five species of sea turtles, including the giant leatherback are found in the Andamans. Wild 'salties' inhabit vast mangrove creeks keeping nature in balance. Butterflies and bugs - many still being 'discovered' - add colour to the forest.
So if you wish to explore the world's best beaches and unusual islands, kayak through some of the most pristine mangrove eco-systems in the world, trek through almost-virgin littoral and tropical rainforest, snorkel at some of the most diverse and healthy reefs in the region, or simply spend a few days immersed in some or all of these activities and ecosystems while camping in Wild Andaman, we welcome you to Barefoot Eco Tours for a journey of a lifetime.
